1964 Mercury Comet 1964 MERCURY COMET AFX DRAG CAR

Vehicle Title:
(613, 100.0%)

1964 Mercury Comet 1964 MERCURY COMET AFX DRAG CAR

This is an old school 1964 Comet altered wheelbase AFX drag car that was built in 1965 and spent the next 53 years as a drag car. The odometer shows a little over 5000 original mile. This car was professionally built and show it. Not scabbed together. The all steel body includes a tilt front end and steel bumpers. The front and rear axles are moved forward and the interior is moved back. The original 427 is long gone and now houses a 351 Windsor with a C4 automatic trans and 9 inch post rear. The F.I. stacks are not real but sit atop a Holley carburetor. It has fender well headers that are capped and run into a muffled exhaust. I do not have a lot of history on this car except it was from New York. All the hand painted lettering is of real places that existed in the northeastern New York area but that's all I know. The cars runs and drive straight as an arrow with no issues. Great exhibition car or compete. This is a turn key car. Car is Pennsylvania titled as an antique with tag and registered ...

1968 Mercury Cougar Standard 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E four speed Tribute Car

$19,800.00 OR BEST OFFER !! Buy it Now for the Sale Price or make me a reasonable offer. I am not a dealer - small time collector building a new house and have to downsize my collection.Bought this sweet '68 Cougar a few years ago to build as a 1968 GT-E 428 CJ four speed tribute car - I used as my inspiration a genuine Augusta Green '68 GTE 428 CJ four speed car you can see in Hemmings online article "Rare Cat Spotted in Maine: a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 GT-E" - which sold in 2015 for $228,800 at OwlsHead Classic Auction. Last December there was a red '68 GTE 427 engine / automatic car on Ebay for $47,770.00 - MY RESERVE IS FAR BELOW THAT !! I have literally driven the car less than 1,500 miles since I bought it as it sat in the GT-E project phase most of the time - body work & mouldings, paint, interior, drivetrain upgrade, etc. This '68 Cougar was originally a factory 3 spd manual 302 engine car and it appears I may be only the 3rd owner. GT-E PARTS - I bought the GT-E badges, body ...

I bought this car with the intent of making a race car of it. It is a very complete car with a very mediocre paint job. There are some dings, bubbling, cracking and irregularity to the paint, therefore I would plan to repaint it if you intend to do something other than race it. There is what I would consider very minor rust on the body which is primarily in the front of the rear wheel wells (grey in the pictures) and in the random bubbling around the wheel openings in the rear. Either door has a bubble on it as well. I don't believe that any of this will require metal replacement. The car will need a driver side foot well replacement to make the floors 100%. The rest of the bottom of the car is in remarkable shape. The chrome, fenders, glass and trim are really, really nice. I cannot confirm the originality of the motor and transmission but I believe them to be a 289/302 with a C4. There is no exhaust currently installed but the car will run and drive. The gas pedal is a "jerry rigged" ...

One of only 7,454 ever made. One year body style. Probably one of one left with this color combination and options. Anniversary silver. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Factory Air, Automatic, courtesy light package, back-up lights, front and rear seat belts, original tachometer that works, original 289ci 4bbl, reverse style chrome original hub caps with excellent tires. Seat extenders for tall folks--so much more comfortable seat positions. Restore it or leave it alone, and just drive it. People love the look, and you don't need to worry about that perfect paint job on a restored car. Matching # Motor. I brought this car from CA to VA in 2010. Original motor with tag still on it, and same with rear end. Original rebuilt carb. Recent dual exhaust with vintage hipo headers. Newly rebuilt power brake booster and master cylinder performed by White Post restoration in VA. Timing chain replaced. Oil and filter just changed and front end aligned. New Monroe rear coil over shocks. Pertronix ignition ...
